Full Tilt Low Stakes Sit And Go's
Small stakes sit n go poker tournaments start literally every second at Full Tilt Poker. These tournaments are very popular with new players looking for a quick gamble and can be quite profitable for an experienced winning poker player looking for an easy way to make a nice hourly return on their investment by multi-tabling these full tilt single table tournaments.
Full Tilt Poker is one of the best online poker sites to offer small stakes Sit And Go's. All of Full Tilt's Sit And Go's are nine person tournaments that play down until only one person remains. Of the nine players that enter, three will make the money or win some money. This means you only have to outlast 6 other players to make a profit on your investment, and it is a great way to practice your final table skills for the day when you want to score a big win at a Full Tilt multi table tournament.
Full Tilt offers the following sng's for small stakes poker players:
$1+.25 (both regular and turbo), $2+.25(Regular) and $2+.25(Turbo) $5+.50 (Regular) $6+.50 (Turbo). At the $10 buy-ins you will start to find better players and thus need to adjust your strategy accordingly.
What really distinguishes Full Tilt as a leader in the small stakes sit and go arena is the fact that you can find most games spread even at the small levels in a SNG format including: Holdem – no limit, pot limit, fixed limit; Omaha – in both hi/lo or Omaha Hi in both pot limit and fixed limit formats, Stud – Stud Hi and Stud 8 or better, Horse, even Razz! It's great to be able to play so many different variations of poker without risking a large portion of your bankroll.
Turbo Sit And Go's
Turbo sng's at Full Tilt are fast paced and full of action, the blinds start at 15/30 chips with a starting stack of 1,500 chips respectively. The blinds escalate quickly, moving up every three minutes until the tournament is over. These single table tournaments usually end around the 300/600 or 400/800 level or in about 45 minutes. A great thing about the small stakes sng's is loose players knock each other out fast and quickly reduce the field to five players where we can start looking for a spot to double up into the money and then move on to a win.
I find the turbo tournaments to be the most profitable as they will naturally attract the loose aggressive players looking for a quick gamble, along with the weaker calling stations that will be happy to pay off your holdings. Turbo Sit And Go's at Full Tilt Poker are a great way to earn $10-$20 per hour just for having some quick fun playing some online poker tournaments, depending on what stakes you play and how many tables.
I personally find that I can make $10 an hour 4 tabling the $2 turbos and $20 an hour 4 tabling $6 turbo sit and go's at Full Tilt. I treat each 4 games as a session and play them till the last game is done, at which time I will start a new session.
Regular Sit And Go's
The regular sit and go's at Full Tilt attract much tighter and generally more experienced players, they are generally exploitable in the later levels but you can expect a much longer bubble and a tournament that lasts around an hour and a half. You start with 1500 chips like all Full Tilt sng's and the blinds start at 15/30 with escalations every five minutes. Blinds in these tournametThis will lower your hourly rate but may increase your return on investment by allowing you more play without forcing you into all in or fold mode before the money is reached.
Play Extremely Tight Early On
I cannot emphasize this point enough, play these sit and go tournaments very tight early on. How tight do you say? I mean as tight as tight gets, fold good hands like King Queen in middle position without opening and don't play any suited connectors. Keeping or improving your starting stack becomes very important once the tournament gets down to five people and short-handed play begins approaching the bubble.
Fold all marginal hands and don't think about stealing blinds until the blinds have increased a few levels, try only to involve yourself in situations where you are willing to get all of your chips into the pot. Generally it is wise to fold hands as strong as Ace Queen suited or even a pair of Jacks if there is a raise or re-raise in front of you. If the price is right and you have position in the hand go ahead and see the flop, but don't over play your holding. It is perfectly acceptable to find a good spot to be aggressive and double up, but chasing a bunch of pots because you were on the button with suited connectors is a recipe for failure so just don't do it.
The whole idea here is to build a table image of being a very tight player so you can switch gears and confuse your opponents when the blinds start representing a big portion of your stack later on.
Play Extremely Aggressive In Later Rounds
Play extremely aggressive in later rounds of small stakes full tilt sit and go's, taking full advantage of your tight image and leaning heavily on any fold equity. Players at these stakes are usually too weak of poker players to understand that you have changed gears to adjust for stack sizes. By relentlessly raising and re-raising with big blinds and short handed play you will confused your opponent and put them on tilt.
While doing this, be mindful of the players stack in the blinds, can they afford to fold? There is several math models available online that will teach you the proper range of hands to push or fold at the big blind levels but at the small stakes sng's on Full Tilt you will simply just need to try and come up with a range of hands your opponent will call you with based on how deep or short-stacked he is.
Play To Win
Making the money in sit and go's is extremely important to being a profitable poker player, once you are in the money though it is even more important to play for an aggressive win. Third place usually represents a 2 times your buyin, with second place representing 3 times your buy-in, and first place a whopping 5 times your initial buy in it is easy to see how much more profitable a win is.
Let's think about the simple math of this, if I play a four game session of $5 sng's and get 3 x 3rd place and one bustout I have returned $30 on my $20 investment right? While that is ok and any profit in playing poker is a good thing, if these results had included 2 x third places and one win, my total return would have been $45 on my $20 investment. If I had went on to win all three of the four sngs I would have turned my $20 into a whopping $100! Making the money is so important for your return on investment, but winning will improve both your roi and your hourly win rate so much more.
Heads up usually comes down to a coin flip, so I try to capitalize my fold equity on the bubble and when down to three players. If I have properly portrayed the image of a very tight player early on, I will push any two connecting cards, any two face cards, any ace, and any pocket pair from the button or the small blind. From the big blind I will call with hands like Queen Nine suited and better, rarely will I be worse than 40% to win the hand and the return for first place vs. third justifies the added gamble.
All of these points should make it easier to become a winning sng player at low limit small stakes sng's on Full Tilt Poker, I'll see you at the tables!
