Beginner SNG Strategy – Introduction To Sit And Go’s For Beginners
When you play sit and go tournaments you need to have a strategy as to how you want to play your game. There are many different strategies for playing these small tournaments and you can decide which one is best. I'm going to discuss with you the strategy that I use when I play the sit and go tournaments online.
Early Stages Small Blinds
When the tournament begins the blinds are very small, but the action is usually fierce. You'll find that a lot of people are aggressive during the early stages of sit and go tournaments because there trying to increase their chip stack. Make sure if you're going to go all-in on a hand in the early stages that it's a monster hand because you don't want to make an early exit. You should try and also call all the cheap flops and see if you hit the flop because you never know what could come. You don't need a monster hand to be involved, if the flop is going to be cheap then connectors and suited cards are good to check the flop out with.
Middle Stages Medium Blinds
As the blinds begin to increase and the cost to play your cards becomes expensive you'll need to narrow down your hand selection. When you do go into hands at this stage you should be looking to raise the pot with your cards and taking down the blinds. You don't want to limp in at this stage because chances are someone will raise you. If you're in position to limp in and you think it will remain un-raised then you should just limp in and see if you hit. The amount of players will be becoming smaller at this stage and it will be a race for the money in no time.
Final Stage High Blinds
There will usually be around four to five players left at this point in the tournament and chips will be flying all over the place. The blinds will know be high and almost every hand you'll see someone raising all-in. Players will be going all-in with nothing most times so if you have a moderate hand think about calling. If you have chips then take a look at the odds of calling the player, especially if there one of the low stacks as the goal now is too knock out two more people.
Once you get into the final three and are in the money you can decide to play however you want. Most players are very aggressive at this point since their in the money and will be betting like crazy. The blinds will also be something to deal with which is another reason why the betting is so loose. Once you make the money you've done well and now you need to get a little lucky and win on your all-in. With poker any two cards can win the pot so although you can usually determine when you have the best going into the hand you might not always come out on top. The best you can do when it's down to three players is to get your chips in the pot with the best hand and let the cards do the rest.
